Bank of Everglades
The Bank of the Everglades was the first bank in Collier County – opened in July 1923, and was the only bank in Collier County for over twenty years. Opened by wealthy industrialist Barron G. Collier, the bank was created to meet the considerable payroll of Collier's determined effort to complete the Tamiami Trail. It functioned as a bank until 1962, when the charter was sold to a group of investors and moved to Immokalee.
Today, the bank operates as the Everglades Historic Bed and Breakfast with Spa. Visitors can see the original vault and bank adding machines proudly displayed.
