Exhibition: "Windows and Doors to History"
November 10, 2016 - February 18 2017
The Marco Island Historical Society spear-headed this project to raise funds to bring “home” on loan to Marco Island many of the Key Marco Calusa artifacts uncovered during the Pepper-Hearst world-famous 1896 archaeological expedition. Private donors helped sponsor each work to help MIHS achieve their goal and exceeding the one million dollar mark. These works of art by seven renowned artists will reflect vivid scenes from Marco Island’s past from the Pleistocene through Modern times. The unveiling of the pieces will be a sneak peak at what will be permanently installed in the faux windows and doors throughout the exterior of the Museum Complex and Buildings.
