Faith on the Frontier – a History of Churches in the Everglades Area

18 Jun 2026 Museum Assistant Matthew Anderson will explore the origins of the area’s many congregations dating back to the turn of the last century.
Mr. Anderson will share stories of where early pioneers met and prayed, how the museum itself once hosted Catholic masses, and how county founder Barron Gift Collier ensured that people of all denominations would always be welcome to worship in Everglades City.

American Spirit, American Dream Exhibit

23 Jun 2026 Every year Museum of the Everglades collaborates with our local school – one of the last two K-12 public schools on a single campus in the state of Florida – to create an exhibit that celebrates a specific aspect of this unique community. Students submit artwork, photos, videos, stories, interviews and more to help us share a part of the character and history of the area.
